چکیده

account for approximately 3% of all biceps tendon ruptures. The two-incision repair techniques, as described by Boyd and Anderson1 in 1961, were developed to lower the risk of injury to the radial nerve and posterior interosseous nerve. Reports of posterior interosseous nerve palsy following this approach are rare.2-3 Transient posterior interosseous nerve palsies following a repair with the twoincision technique has been reported; however, permanent posterior interosseous nerve palsy following this procedure has not been reported previously.

Posterior interosseous nerve incarceration with endobutton repair of distal biceps.

Distal biceps ruptures are uncommon injuries that comprise approximately 3% of all biceps pathology. This injury is most commonly seen in 40- to 60-year-old men, and the mechanism of injury involves a forceful extension movement to a flexed elbow. Without surgical intervention, patients are left with measurable weakness in elbow flexion and supination as well as a cosmetic deformity that often ...

Surgical Management of Distal Biceps Tendon Anatomical Reinsertion Complications: Iatrogenic Posterior Interosseous Nerve Palsy

BACKGROUND Although iatrogenic posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) palsy is an uncommon complication of ruptured distal biceps brachii tendon surgical anatomical reinsertion, it is the most severe complication leading to functional limitation. The present study investigated possible types of PIN palsy as a postoperative complication of anatomical distal biceps tendon reinsertion, and aimed to cl...

Entrapment of Common Peroneal Nerve by Surgical Suture following Distal Biceps Femoris Tendon Repair

We describe entrapment of the common peroneal nerve by a suture after surgical repair of the distal biceps femoris tendon. Complete rupture of the distal biceps femoris tendon of a 16-year-old male athlete was surgically repaired. Postoperative common peroneal nerve palsy was evident, but conservative treatment did not cause any neurological improvement. Reexploration revealed that the common p...

Multiple nerve injuries following repair of a distal biceps tendon rupture--case report and review of the literature.

Current repair of a distal biceps tendon rupture has reverted to the single incision technique. Postoperative complications are rare, but the most common are due to neuropraxia. We present the case of patient who sustained multiple nerve injuries following distal biceps repair. This case is presented with a review of the literature.

Surgical management of acute distal biceps tendon rupture associated with contralateral radial palsy.

Acute distal biceps tendon rupture constitute a rare lesion of biceps injuries, typically, easy to diagnosis after lifting a heavy object. Treatment is controversial, nonoperative for sedentary and elderly patients; surgical for young and active individuals. Many operative techniques are described, they all aim to restore an excellent strength of flexion and supination. We opted for one-incisio...
